Foundation – Part 3 “Lighthouse”

[one_half] Foundation – Part 3 is about our third core value Integrity.  My sense of humor may be somewhat off, but I found the comic to the side to illustrate the definition of integrity humorously, even if it is striking. Integrity is when your actions meet your values.  It is where when “the mouth speaks of what the heart is full of” (Luke 6:45).  H&J Petroleum management was founded on the core values of faith, safety, integrity, education, and excellence.  Integrity for H&J means that these values are not only stated but lived out. Integrity is what makes H&J’s culture real and different because our values are what sustain us. [/one_half]

In short Integrity for H&J Petroleum is:

Faith – Bringing others to Christ through H&J Petroleum

Safety – Putting the highest value on human life

Integrity – Living what we preach

Education – Always striving to grow

Excellence – Doing our best in whatever we do.

[one_half]Our core values are the lighthouse for our company, protecting us from danger.  My business partners and I have aligned our values so that when the tough questions come that aren’t as black and white as simple mathematics we will know the answers and utilize the litmus test of the core principals we founded H&J Petroleum on, following through with actions that are in alignment with these values.  We will know when to change course because the lighthouse of integrity will guide our path, away from danger. In the end I believe that James might have described integrity bestFor as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.” (James Chapter 2).[/one_half]

Below are several quotes that helped me with this article that I wanted to share:

They’re certainly entitled to think that, and they’re entitled to full respect for their opinions… but before I can live with other folks I’ve got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn’t abide by majority rule is a person’s conscience.”
― Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird

“Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters”
― Albert Einstein

“Waste no more time arguing about what a good man should be. Be one.”
― Marcus Aurelius, Meditations

“I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence.”
― Frederick Douglass

“I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I am not bound to
succeed, but I am bound to live up to what light I have.”
― Abraham Lincoln
